Wolfe, 304/285-5883 The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) intends to purchase a 10 Kw microwave fixation system manufactured by Muromachi of Japan. This equipment is used solely for the preservation of intact brain tissue from both rats and mice for subsequent analysis of toxicant-induced changes in protein phosphorylation pathways. This serves as an important resource for early gene expression neurotoxicology studies being conducted at NIOSH. Unique features of this system are four available applicators, and water jacketed holders for each; a height of only 36 inches with a convenient sloping control panel; and applicators that allow a view of the animal (to check position) as the operate button is being pressed, thus minimizing failed fixations. Vendors having the capabilities necessary to meet the stated requirements are invited to submit appropriate documentation, literature, brochures and references to Brenda L.
