66 -- PORTABLE, HAND-HELD, WAND STYLE, CODED-WIRE TAG DETECTORS SOL NFFN2700700056SMA DUE 082197 POC Sheila Anderson 816-426-7267 ext. 240 The U.S. Department of Commerce, NOAA, intends to purchase thirteen (13) portable, hand-held, wand style, coded-wire tag detectors for the National Marine Fisheries Service, Southeast Fisheries Science Center located in Galveston, Texas. These detectors are manufactured by Northwest Marine Technology, Inc., in Shaw Island, Washington, and are designed to detect 2-millimeter or less, magnetic coded-wire tags that are inserted in the flippers of endangered sea turtles. The Government knows of no other source that can provide these detectors capable of detecting tags of this size. The proposed procurement action is for supplies for which the Government intends to solicit to only one source under the authority of 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1). This is not a call for proposals. Interested parties are encouraged to respond to this announcement within 14 days of its publication. Interested firms shall submit in writing, its name, address, point of contact, telephone number, business size and a brief statement regarding its capability to provide the specified equipment, and the name, telephone number, and point of contact for businesses or other Government agencies to which it has previously provided similar supplies. No response will be provided to those inquiries which fail to provide the information requested. This information shall be submitted to the address stated herein or may be faxed to 816-426-7530. This is not a request for proposals and there is no RFQ available at this time. A determination by the Government not to compete is solely within the discretion of the Government.
