Sources sought to provide biological services to summarize existing data within the fishery and survey databases at the Alaska Fisheries Science Center (AFSC) on the distribution and habitat of groundfish and crab species. Contractor will summarize data on distribution and habitat of each lifestage (eg, larva, juvenile, and adult) of the groundfish and crab species managed under the Fishery Management Plans (FMP) issued by the Fishery Management Councils (Councils). This includes all commercially targeted groundfish species as well as "other" species for which an acceptable biological catch (ABC) is set but which are not currently retained. Contractor summaries may consist of geographical, depth, and size distributions from larval, juvenile and adult surveys (presence/absence as well as species density (catch per unit effort) if sufficient data are available) and fisheries using various gear (eg, trawl, hook and line, and pot). Methods of data summarization will be developed with AFSC staff. It is anticipated that work will be done by a qualified biologist experienced in and knowledge of fisheries resources of the Pacific and Bering Seas and knowledge of GIS techniques and technologies. Sources responding to this notice must indicate qualifications and experience in these areas. Simple requests for the solicitation will not be honored. Further, work must begin as soon as possible but no later than 9/98 to complete the summaries by 1/98. Final report will be due by 10/1/98. This is a simplified acquisition with an estimated value of less than $100,000. All responsible sources may submit a proposal which shall be considered by the agency. (0219)
