NASA/ARC plans to issue a Request for Offer (RFO) for a commercial item prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This procurement is being conducted to purchase a CNC waterjet gantry cutting system which shall include: (1) CNC controlled 2 axis shape cutting gantry; (1) low rail x axis support frame (rails below catcher tank); (1) intensfier; (1) bulk abrasive metering and transfer system; (1) cutting head; (1) controller (with software installed); (1) console; (1) self cleaning catcher tank; and all necessary support hardware (e.g.plumbing kits, motor controller, tool kits manuals) that shall provide a fully operational,integrated turnkey system. The cutting area shall be 6'x10'; the work cell shall be able to be located with an overhead crane or forklift without interference of rails or other obstructions; the system shall meet or exceed all applicable OSHA (Occupational Safety & Health Administration) standards related to this type of equipment; the system shall be capable of cutting 6" thick steel, aluminum and stainless steel. Additional specifications for the CNC waterjet gantry cutting system will be stated in the RFO. The firm date for receipt of offers will be stated in the RFO which is expected to be issued on or about August 26, 1997. The Standard Industrial Classification Code for this procurement is 3541.
