Appalachian National Scenic Trail, will be issuing a Request for
Quotations for a demolition project on Route 191 between Stroudsburg
and North Bangor on the ridgecrest of Kittatinny Mountain, Monroe
County, PA. Bell Telephone and other communication companies once had
various types of communication towers at these sites. All towers have
been removed, but the associated concrete foundations-(4) at the former
Bell site, three feet square at the top and (3) foundations at another
nearby site measuring approx. 10 ft. in diameter; gravel, service
building and fencing remain. Project includes demolition of a one-story
heavy masonry building of 504 square feet; removal of concrete
foundations; approximately 700 cubic yards of gravel and a cyclone
fence. Regrade and seed altered area. A hazardous materials inspection
of the Bell property was performed in May 1997. Category I,
non-friable asbestos containing materials were found in the mastic for
the floor tile building wide. Asbestos removal is part of this
demolition project. Completion of the project is to be within 60 days
