(CDC/NCID) intends to award a sole source purchase order to Beckman
Instruments, 2500 N. Harbor Blvd., Fullerton, CA, for one P/ACE System
MDQ Quality Control Package II, to include one P/ACE System MDQ
Capillary Electrophoresis System; one UV/VIS Detection Module; and one
Pentium Workstation loaded with the P/ACE System MDQ software (single
user license). THIS IS A COMBINED SYNOPSIS/SOLICITATION FOR COMMERCIAL
ITEMS PREPARED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE FORMAT IN SUBPART 12.6, AS
SUPPLEMENTED WITH ADDITIONAL INFORMATION INCLUDED IN THIS NOTICE. THIS
ANNOUNCEMENT CONSTITUTES THE ONLY SOLICITATION; QUOTATIONS ARE BEING
REQUESTED AND A WRITTEN SOLICITATION WILL NOT BE ISSUED. This
solicitation, 97-182(Q), is a Request for Quote (RFQ). The solicitation
and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through
Federal Acquisition Circular 90-46. The Standard Industrial
Classification (SIC) code for this procurement is3826; the small
business size standard is 500 employees. Salient characteristics:
automated, programmable capillary electrophoresis system; performs high
speed separation of samples using only nanolitre volumes with sample
introduction by all sample modes (electrokinetic, pressure and vacuum)
available on either end of the capillary; equipped with detection
system which utilizes discreet wavelengths using filters ideal in a
quality control environment; separation capillary housed in
interchangeable cartridge with circulating liquid coolant; efficient
temperature control which allows the use of high ionic strength buffers
and large bore capillaries for maximum flexibility; autosampler capable
of handling 96 well plates, 2 ml vials, PCR vials and 0.5 ml tubes and
an automatic buffer changer which is an array of 36 buffer pairs;
adaptable for mass spectrometry. Delivery will be FOB Destination
Within Consignee's Premises; delivery location is CDC/NCID, Building 1,
1600 Clifton Road, Atlanta, GA 30333. Acceptance location will be the
same. Delivery is desired within 90 days after receipt of an order.
Pricing must include providing installation and training by qualified
field engineers. Warranty terms shall be in accordance with standard
industry practice at the time of award. The following FAR provisions

Alternate I. Interested offerors may identify their interest and
capability to meet the requirements by submitting a capability
statement which must contain adequate information on supplying this
type of system and qualifications to provide the product. This notice
of intent is not a request for competitive proposals/quotes. However,
all capability statements received within five (5) calendar days after
the date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the
Government. All offerors must include a completed copy of the provision
at FAR 52.212-3, Offeror Representations and Certifications --
Commercial Items. The Defense Priorities and Allocations System (DPAS)
does not apply. Quotes are due at 4:00 PM, September 9, 1997 to the
