PHYSICAL PROCESSES ANALYSIS ON 150 MILES OF THE SAN JOAQUIN RIVER,
CALIFORNIA DUE 081897 POC Paula Landis (209) 487-5103 USBOR is seeking
a consultant to prepare a physical processes analysis for 150 miles of
the mainstem of the San Joaquin River, California. This analysis will
include a literature review to locate maps, photos, and other data
needed to understand changes in the physical process along the San
Joaquin River. Historic cross sections will also be analyzed to
determine how the riverbed has changed over time. Plan view maps
showing the location of the meander belt and river channel will be
generated along with river bed and water surface profiles. The number
of plan and profile drawings generated will be determined based on the
availability of data and the program manager's discretion. A cross
sections analysis will be performed to determine the location of the
current river channel, the 1.5, 25, 50 and 100 year flood plains,
meander belt widths, cross-sectional area, valley slope, river channel
slope, sinuosity, bank full flows, depth-to-width ratios, coefficient
of friction, and channel capacity. The pr oject is located in Fresno,
Madera and Merced counties and encompasses portions of the San Joaquin
River watershed. The geographic boundaries of the project are the San
Joaquin River between Friant Dam, near Fresno, and the confluence of
the San Joaquin and Merced rivers. SUBMITTAL REQUIREMENTS. Sources
responding to this notice must provide (in writing) qualifications and
experience including (1) a synopsis of the firm's history; (2) a list
of projects completed which are relevant to this project; (3) c lient
referenced (include contact name, address and phone number); (4)
background information on key personnel to be used on this project; and
(5) subcontractor list, with pertinent background information, to be
used on this project. NOTICE: This is a "sources sought" synopsis. As
such, there is no solicitation package or requirement at this time.
