Contracts Office, Contract@nist.gov. The National Institute of
Standards & Technology (NIST) has a requirement to purchase a Newport
K-System (SI# 502977) -- Rotary Table and Encoder System (or equal)
which will be part of an apparatus used to perform x-ray diffraction
imaging experiments at the Advanced Photon Source. The rotation
stage/encoder combination will mount to an existing translation stage
so that the rotation axis is horizontal. A mounting plate shall be
provided to mount to the translator car. The translator car has the
hole pattern shown in diagram 1. The rotation stage and encoder
combination shall not exceed 13 cm in thickness measured from the
mounting plate to the rotary faceplate. The system consists of the
following Contract Line Item Numbers (CLIN). CLIN 0001 is ONE EA. --
Newport RTM240PE High Performance Annular Rotation Stage (or equal).
The rotation stage shall not exceed 6 cm in thickness and shall not
exceed 9 Kg in mass. A mounting plate shall be attached to the rotation
faceplate with the hole pattern shown in diagram 2. Diagrams 1 and 2
can be downloded from the NIST contracts web page at the internet
address: http://www.nist.gov/admin/od/contract/contract.htm under the
heading of Business Opportunities. The rotation stage shall be stepper
motor driven with a step size of 0.0001 degrees/step. The rotation
stage shall have on-axis accuracy of 0.01 degrees, repeatability of at
least 0.002 degrees, hysteresis of 0.004 degrees or less, wobble of 60
microradian or less and concentricity of 5 micrometers or less. Since
the rotation axis is horizontal all loads will be cantilevered. The
rotation stage shall be capable of supporting a 100 Kg load located on
the rotation axis, 10 cm out from the face plate. The maximum
cantilevered load shall be provided, preferably as an equation relating
load and offset. CLIN 0002 is ONE EA. -- Newport (SI# 502980)
Heidenhain ROD800 Incremental Angle Encoder (or equal) The encoder
shall have a resolution of 0.0001 degrees and an accuracy of 1
arcsecond. A digital readout shall be provided . CLIN 0003 is ONE EA.
-- Newport (RG-45-4) (optical table)- Research Grade Breadboard (or
equal) the table shall be 4 feet x 5 feet and have 1/4-20 tapped holes
on 1 inch centers. The table shall be 4 inches thick with a stainless
steel top and sealed holes. CLIN 0004 is ONE EA. -- Newport (40002B-S)
Motor Driver for use in MD4. CLIN 0005 is ONE EA. -- Newport (40001-S)
Sine/Cosine card to operate UE41PP in ministep for use in MD4. CLIN
0006 is ONE EA. -- Testing, System Integration, and burn-in in the
assembled state. This CBD synopsis/solicitation and the referenced
diagrams are available in the NIST Contracts webpage at internet
address:http://www.nist.gov/admin/od/contract/contract.htm The system
above has been identified by a "brand name or equal" description, which
is intended to be descriptive, but not restrictive, and is to indicate
the quality and characteristics of products that will be satisfactory.
Quotations offering equal products will be considered for award. The
quotation must list the manufacturer or brand name of the item to be
furnished. Manufacturer's sales literature or other documentation shall
be provided to show that offered product(s) meet or exceed requirements
as specified in the above specification. Delivery shall be FOB
Destination within 100 days after award. This is a combined
synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with
the format in the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) subpart 12. 6,
as supplemented with additional information included in this notice.
This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; offers are being
requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. Solicitation
