kkli@loc.gov. The Library of Congress intends to negotiate with
Sovereign Hill Software, Inc., Amherst, MA to provide Boolean
enhancements to the INQUERY Search Engine. The Search Engine utilizes
a statistical relevance ranking algorithm combined with boolean search
capability. It is integrated with filtering and routing capability and
is capable of automatic query expansion and concept searching. It has
demonstrated portability to run in the Windows NT and UNIX (including
AIX) O/S environmental as well as demonstrated portability to languages
beyond English. This software consists of the current executable
version of the INQUERY Search Engine, in object and executable code
formats. The following items are included in the INQUERY Search Engine:
executable and object code programs for creating, modifying and
maintaining INQUERY indices; executable and object code programs for
searching and browsing INQUERY indices; executable and object code
utility programs for viewing the contents of INQUERY indices;
executable andobject code utility programs for customizing document
and/or query representation; executable and object code interfaces for
batch, interactive and network retrieval; and source code which
illustrates how to customize document indexing for different document
formats; source code which illustrates how to develop user interfaces
using the INQUERY API; documentation on the INQUERY Search Engine. The
software includes the InQuery Web Access Toolset with manuals and the
INQUERY Web Indexing Toolset. This software runs on a RS/6000.

providing sufficient technical documentation to demonstrate capability
to satisfy the requirement, complete pricing including all charges and
a copy of the GSA contract (if applicable). Affirmative responses must
be received by August 29, 1997 by 2:00 pm. NO SOLICITATION SHALL BE
