HISTORIC BIOLOGICAL CONDITIONS ANALYSIS OF THE SAN JOAQUIN RIVER,
CALIFORNIA DUE 081897 POC Paula Landis (209) 487-5103 USBOR is seeking
a consultant to prepare a historic conditions analysis of the biology
along 150 miles of the mainstem of the San Joaquin river. This will
include a literature review to locate historical descriptions, maps,
photos (infra-red when available), and other data needed to understand
the extent and condition of historical riparian vegetation along the
San Joaquin River, California. The consultant will generate maps
showing the location, extent, density, and species composition of
historic r iparian vegetation, as well as written analysis of changes
over time. The project is located in Fresno, Madera and Merced counties
and encompasses portions of the San Joaquin River watershed. The
geographic boundaries of the project are the San Joaquin River between
Friant Dam, near Fresno, and the confluence of the San Joaquin and
Merced Rivers. The project area, approximately 150 miles of the river
corridor, is divided into five distinct reaches based on the hydrology
and development along the river. Efforts will focus on the river
bottom, floodplain terraces and other areas immediately adjacent to the
river. SUBMITTAL REQUIREMENTS. Sources responding to this notice must
provide (in writing) qualifications and experience including (1) a
synopsis of the firm's history; (2) a list of projects completed which
are relevant to this project; (3) client referenced (include contact
name, address and phone number); (4) background information on key
personnel to be used on this project; and (5) subcontractor li st, with
pertinent background information, to be used on this project. NOTICE:
This is a "sources sought" synopsis. As such, there is no solicitation
package or requirement at this time. Your submittal must not exceed 5
pages at 12 point font. Your response must be received by August 18,
