Institute of Health (NIH) National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive
and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) has a study to identiy firths from the
GRIC and match data gathered from the birth certificate tapes with
existing data sets maintained by the PECRB. This will require an
individual who is competent in computer programming and database
management. Knowledge of the SAS programming language and experience
with mainframe IBM 9672-34 computers using IBM Multiple Virtual
Storage/Enterprise System Architecture Operating System and the Job
Entry Subsystem 2 Nomenclature with JCL as well as IBM PCs are
desiable. Sensitive data will accessed and strict adherence to computer
security and privancy procedures are mandatory. The specifications
required are as follow: 1) Read birth certificate tapes that are in
various formats on the mainframe computer. 2) Read recent data from
computer disks, upload to mainframe computer and collate into data
sets. 3) Identify all records for births from the GRIC. 4) Develop a
system, or identify and install and existing system, for matching these
records with the database currently maintained by the Clinical
Research: Diabetes Mellitus Research Study of Southwestern American

set (data sets) with pertinent birth certificate data for all GRIC
residents. 6) Develop an overall, well-documented program for in-house
yearly updates from new state birth certificate tapes as they become

Simplified Acquisition Thereshold $ 100,000. It is anticapated that
Request For Quote (RFQ) NIH-NIDDK-97-287 will be available fifteen (15)

quotations will be due (10) days after the released of the RFQ. The
anticipated award date is September 9, 1997. Requests for copies of the
