This is a sole source requirement for the Post Harvest Education and Research Center of Purdue University to host a national workshop regarding Pest Management in Stored Product. Additional supporters to this workshop include the USDA, Oklahoma University, Kansas State University, and the US Grain Marketing nad Processing Research Center. The workshop is to be held in hte later part of August. The primary objective of this workshop is to assess hte effectiveness of technical education designed to meet the mandate of the regulations governing the certification of applicators of chemical pesticides, as well as, the mandate of the Food Quality Protection Act of 1996 to support the adoption of integrated pest management practices in the post harvest handling of grains and processed foods. The Dept. of Agricultural and Biological Engineering at Purdue University will develop, implement and evaluate a national hands-on workshop for regulatory, extension education and industry professionals.
