COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF AUGUST 18,1997 PSA#1911"JOINT EMPLOYMENT AND TRAINING TECHNOLOGY CONFERENCE (JETT*CON '97)
"Joint Employment and Training Technology Conference (JETT*CON '97),
December 16-18, 1997" sponsored by the United States Department of
Labor, Employment and Training Administration (ETA) and the Council for
Excellence in Government (CEG), will be held in Chicago, Illinois at
the Sheraton Chicago Hotel and Towers Cityfront Center, 301 East North
Water Street, Chicago, Illinois 60611. Phone: 312-464-1000, Fax:
312-464-9140. ETA and CEG are seeking vendors to exhibit at this
conference. The first JETT*CON was held in Washington, DC in July of
1996. Over 2,000 participants, 60 private sector exhibits, and 25 state
and local exhibitors attended. JETT*CON '97 is expecting 2,500
participants, over 100 private sector exhibitors, and 20 state and
local showcase exhibits. The purpose of JETT*CON '97 is to educate and
inform federal, state, local, and private providers of workforce
development services how technology can help them to provide better,
faster, and more cost effective services to the public. Technology is
revolutionizing the way we live, learn, and work, and is having a
profound impact on the way workforce development services are
delivered. States and localities are spending millions of dollars on
technology as they try to harness the power of the information age in
training America's workforce. If you offer technology that will improve
effectiveness and efficiency in the areas listed below, this conference
will provide a unique opportunity to showcase your products. The areas
of interest include, but are not limited to: assessment, training,
assistive technology, career guidance, labor market information,
job/resume matching, education, self-registration, eligibility
determination, case management/client tracking, distance learning,
internet/intranet technology, interactive multimedia, system
integration, and quality management/continuous improvement. The
educational program is a critical and integral component of the
conference. It will provide hands-on demonstrations and workshops
designed to address innovative and practical solutions through the use
of technology. Vendors will be provided with opportunities to
participate in the educational program. Vendors will be able to
interact with decision makers who are committed to using technology and
want to learn how it can enhance their programs. For more information
