Aeronautical Systems Center, Weapons, Air Base, and Range Product
Support Office, Contracting Division (ASC/WMOK), in support of the Air
Base Systems Division (ASC/WMO), seeks additional information related
to Deployable Power Generation and Distribution Systems (DPGS) draft
request for proposal (DRFP) released 16 April 97. The government wishes
to make clear to interested prospective offerors of the DPGDS program
that a systems approach for meeting the System Requirements Document
(SRD) and Statement of Objectives (SOO) requirements are needed and
that this is not an effort to replace individual equipment items in the
Harvest Falcon/Eagle bare base kits on a one for one basis. The goal of
the acquisition contemplated is to reduce the number of sorties (C-130
aircraft) required to deploy the power system. The restricting factor
is system weight, not volume. Prospective offerors have the freedom to
optimize the primary generation capacity, the primary and secondary
distribution systems, and secondary generation capacity for the
established load, within the limitations set forth in the SRD and SOO.
Improvements in materials, equipment capacities, and their optimal mix
are some of the possible areas which could effect threshold
requirements for weight and performance. All solutions must use
commercially available equipment. The government is interested in
learning if this clarification has any effect on your company's
approach or ability to meet or exceed a system weight savings of 25
percent using Annex A of the SRD as a baseline. Technical documentation
and information about the program has been posted on the Eglin AFB
Web-Site and can be accessed at eglinpk.eglin.af.mil. This Web-Site is
updated periodically with new program information. This notice is for
planning purposes only, and shall not be construed as a Request for

any follow-on acquisitions. The Government does not intend to award a
contract on the basis of responses to thisnotice or otherwise pay for
the information solicited. No entitlement to payment of direct or
indirect cost or changes by the Government will arise as the result of
submission of responses to this notice and Government use of this
