This is a combined synopsis solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation. Solicitation 53SBNB760229 is issued as a Request for Quotation and a written solicitation will not be issued. The Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) code is 7030. The small business size standard is $18 million. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), intends to award to Sterling Software, VM Software Division, 1800 Alexander Bell Drive, Reston VA, 20191 on a sole source basis because the Sterling Software is the only source for comprehensive backup/restore software for the VM/ESA operating system. The Sterling Software combination of VM:Webserver and Gateway is the only suite which provides significantly greater performance than currently available and at the same time automatic conversion of MICF application output data streams to the web data protocol, thus allowing any existing MICF application to be presented via a web interface. CLIN 0001: VM:Backup/HIDRO backup and restore software for VM/ESA; CLIN 0002:VM:Webserver web server software for VM/ESA; CLIN 0003: VM/Webserver/Gateway feature ; CLIN 0004: Maintenance for the above software items for one year, commencing six months after delivery(maintenance for the first six months is included in the purchase price listed above); Required delivery within 30 days from contract award.
