70 -- FILE TRANSFER SOFTWARE SOL RFQ-WO-97-13 DUE 082897 POC Roberta Buskirk, Contract Specialist, 703) 235-8670 Under the authority of FAR 13.106-2, the USDA, Forest Service intends to negotiate and award a sole source purchase order with Sterling Commerce, 1800 Alexander Bell Drive, Reston, VA 22091, for eleven Connect: Direct for Unix licenses. The USDA, Forest Service has a continuing need for batch access from various locations to the USDA, National Information Technology Center in Kansas City and the USDA, National Finance Center in New Orleans. This access must provide an easy-to-use, efficient, TCP-based, secure method of transferring information between the Forest Service IBM RS/6000 AIX systems and the Department Computer Centers (DCCs) IBM MVS systems. File transfers will be initiated both from the RS/6000 and from the IBM MVS systems. In addition, it must utilize and interface with existing Sterling Commerce Connect: Direct for MVS software being run by the DCCs. Interested parties may identify their interest and describe their capability by responding to this notice within 10 calendar days from the date of this publication. When responding to this announcement, responses should refer to RFQ-WO-97-13. Responses should be submitted to the address cited at the beginning of this notice.
