17TH DISTRICT CALIFORNIA CONGRESSMAN SAM FARR FEDERAL PROCUREMENT CONFERENCE On 14 August 1997, Congressman Sam Farr in cooperation with the Central Coast Small Business Development Center will sponsor a federal procurement conference in Monterey, California. Registration will begin at 8:00 A.M. in Herrmann Hall Building 220 at the Naval Post Graduate School. In addition to Congressman Farr, distinguished speakers include: Rear Admiral Mike Sullivan the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Navy (Research, Development and Acquisition), Ms. Teresa Thomae (Central Coast Small Business Development Center), Ms. Inez Don Carlos (Fort Ord Opportunity Center), Mr. Bob Lane (Bay Area Procurement Assistance Center), Mr. Ken Sweitzer (Defense Finance and Accounting Service HQ), and Mr. Don Spry (Defense Logistics Support Center). Emphasis will be on Electronic Commerce/Electronic Data Interchange (EC/EDI) and breaking into the government market, including the Department of Defense. Several prime contractors will also be in attendance. Other topics that will be discussed during thisconference are: Service, Construction and Environmental Contracting; Doing Business with State Buying Activities, the Defense Language Institute, the University of California at Santa Cruz, the California State University at Monterey Bay, the Fort Ord Reuse Authority, and the State Bureau of Corrections.
