RESHEW, (601) 689-8375 Requirement is for expendable Davis Lagrangian Surface Drifters capable of being aircraft or ship deployed to support Navy operational forecast functions. These drifters shall be capable of operating in shallow waters of the open sea. The drifters shall have good surface layer coupling characteristics, low windage, and good rejection of wave rectification to allow them to follow near surface currents (upper meter) of coastal and esturarian waters. They will provide a sea surface temperature measurement. Near surface currents will be calculated by positions determined through Service Argos. Government specifications will be provided with the solicitation. The solicitation, N62306-97-R-0003, will be issued on or about 30 Sep 97 with a closing date 45 days thereafter. An Indefinite Delivery/Requirements Contract will be issued for an estimated quantity of 30 each air deployed units per year and 30 each ship deployed units per year to be acquired from date of award through 30 Sep 02. Delivery to be made toNaval Oceanographic Office, Stennis Space Center, MS. Delivery will be required within 45 -- 60 days after issuance of delivery order.
