synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with
the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional
information included in this notice. The solicitation number is
53SBNB760254 and the solicitation is issued as a request for quotation
(RFQ). The solicitation document and incorporated provisions and
clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 90-46.
The standard industrial classification (SIC) code is 5065, and the
small business size is 500 employees. The contract line item number
(CLIN) and item, quantity and unit of measure is: CLIN 0001 is a
quantity of 1 each PPC1A-604-1836F-20 Radstone PPC1 Single CPU board
225MHz Power PC 604e w/64MB DRAM, Single VME Slot Configuration
(POPPPC1-20-S); CLIN 0002 1 each TOR-PPC1-604-Q Vx Works/Tornado Board
Support Package for PPC1A-604 (on QIC tape for UNIX); CLIN 0003 1 each
PMC2-9100-S PMC Graphics Mezzanine w/2MB VRAM -- RS343A video output
via front panel; CLIN 0004 1 each POP-4MV 2 MB additional VRAM for
PMC2-9100-2 (4MB total); CLIN 0005 1 each PMC ETX-243S 100 Base-TX
Ethernet PMC mezzanine, includes VxWorks drivers. The National
Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), intends to negotiate with
Radstone Technology Corporation, 50 Craig Road, Montvale, NJ 07645-1709
on a sole source basis to acquire VME processor boards to achieve the
necessary degree of hardware compatibility with existing systems. This
is necessary to facilitate the exchange of data between NIST and other
agencies and to enable the use of common interface modules and driver
code. Radstone Technology Corporation is the only source that can
provide the following specifications: 1) Completely software compatible
models in both lab grade and rugged conduction-cooled versions. 2) A
PreP compliant board and 225 MHz PowerPC 604e chip with VXWorks
compatibility. By being PreP-based, the board is more compatible with
software and hardware than special purpose boards. The boards include
2 PCI mezzanine connections which are vital for our development work.
The Intelligent System Division is involved in a cooperative research
agreement with DOD and other government agencies. As a part of the
multi-national agreement, NIST must have software and hardware
compatibility with the other parties involved. Required delivery within

Radstone Technology shall include a completed copy of the provision at
