lopez@pica.army.mil. The U.S. Army TACOM-ARDEC intends to enter into a
sole source contract with Mecar, Belgium, on a firm-fixed price basis,
for the fabrication of 484 modified EPD9013 fuzes and 339 M530A1 Mortar
Cartridges, less the M935 Fuze. Mecar will be required to change the
arming distance and modify electronics of their EPD9013 fuze and to
assemble the modified fuze to their existing M530A1 cartridge. The
modified fuze when attached to the M530A1 Mecar cartridge will be
identified as the M530A2 cartridge. The dual use fuze must meet the
following requirements: direct and indirect fire capability, ability to
be fired from -5 degrees to 80 degrees gun elevation, function in PDSQ
and delay modes, minimum safe arming distance of 100 meters, all
arming distance of 240 meters and have a graze performance of 80% at 2
degrees impact angle. The contractor will then fabricate an additional
1,059 M530A2 cartridges for U.S. Government confirmation testing. Fuze
test hardware to be completed within 50 weeks after contract award.
