COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF AUGUST 22,1997 PSA#1915DOC; Mountain Administrative Support Center; Acquisition Management

NOAA; MASC Acquisition Management, Doris.P.Turner@noaa.gov. The
National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) requires an
alternating gradient magnetometer. The sensitivity requirement is
10e-11 Ampere-meters squared (10e-8 emu) for a 1 second averaging time
without using any cryogens for magnetometer operation or to reduce
thermal noise. The speed required for hysteresis measurements of
magnetic thin films (~10e-7 ampere- meters squared) is such that a 500
point loop be completed in approximately 60 seconds. The magnet must
have a maximum slew rate of 1 Tesla/sec and a maximum field of 1.4
Tesla. Interested sources proposing to supply an equivalent unit must
submit pricing with a written qualification statement clearly
establishing capability to meet the above requirements within 15 days
from the date of this synopsis. The qualifications statements will be
used to determine the need for competitive bids. In the absence of
other qualified sources, it is the intent of the Government to award a
sole source contract under the authority of 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1) to
Princeton Measurements Corp. 31 Air Park Rd., Princeton, NJ 08540 as
this source is considered to be the only responsible source and no
other equipment will satisfy agency requirements. Responses are due by
September 4, 1997 either via fax or mail. No RFQ package is available.
