Design services to furnish complete design development documents, with the provision of future award of construction documents (Plans & Specifications) and construction period services for Project 573-302, upgrade operating room suites, at the VA Medical Center, Gainesville, FL 32608. The project includes the upgrade of electrical service to meet current codes through the addition of new isolation transformers and panels per code requirements, installation of articulating utility columns in each O.R., and complete renovation of the O.R.'s recovery room, corridors, toilet, lounge, locker rooms, and cysto rooms. The A/E firm selected for the design will be required to perform all necessary site survey work, such as verifying record drawings and existing asbestos survey reports. The A/E firm selected will be required to retain a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) to provide expertise in all aspects of assessing, abating, monitoring, and making recommendations concerning asbestos within the project scope of work. Firms should have the capability of producing construction drawings on a computer-aided drafting and design (CADD) system and furnish VA with 3 1/2" diskettes containing such drawings at construction completion. CADD system shall be compatible with Autocad Release 12 software. Selection will be based upon recent specialized experience and technical competence in the type of work required, professional capacity to accomplish work, professional qualifications of staff and consultants assigned to project, past performance on contracts with Government agencies and private industry, in terms of cost control, quality of work, compliance with performance schedules, and other appropriate evaluation criteria. Estimated construction cost of this project is between $1,000,000 and $2,000,000. Consideration is limited to concerns within a 150 mile radius of Gainesville, FL.
