R -- - NOTICE OF INTENT TO NEGOTIATE A SOLE-SOURCE CONTRACT WITH THE WASHINGTON STATE DEPT. OF FISH & WILDLIFE. WASC7-1757. Notice of intent to issue a sole-source negotiated contract with the WAshington Department of Fish & Wildlife (WDFW). The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) requires research to identify and evaluate effectiveness of deterring sea lions from feeding upon salmonids at the Ballard Locks in Seattle, WA. NMFS requires WDFW to collect and analyze data on California sea lion abundance, distribution, predation, and behavior in the presence of prey species (salmonids). NOAA proposes to enter into a sole source contract with the WDFW since WDFW is the sole authority (besides NMFS) which has authority to conduct non-lethal removal of the sea lions at the Ballard Locks. Period of proposed contract is 9/15/97 to 9/30/99. This is a simplified acquisition with an estimated value of less than $100,000.
