COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF AUGUST 25,1997 PSA#1916Commander, Marine Corps System Command, Code CTQ, 2033 Barnett Avenue,
Ste 315, Quantico, VA 22134-5010 K -- OIL COOLING PUMP MODIFICATION TO ELECTRIC POWER EQUIPMENT COMPANY
TEST STAND (MODEL NO. 93-1064/NSN 4910-01-383-1130) POC Contact Michael
D. Blackstone, Contracting Officer, at 703-784-5822 (Ext. 253) The
Marine Corps Systems Command intends to award a contract with Electric
Power Equipment Company (EPEC), 5151 E. 56th Avenue, Commerce City, CO
80002, to produce twenty-two (22) oil cooling pump modification kits
for the Marine Corps Alternator, Generator, Regulator, Starter Test
Stands (AGRS Model No. 93-1064, NSN 4910-01-383-1130) originally
designed/produced as a commercial item by EPEC under Contract No.
M67854-93-C-0102. The current EPEC AGRS test stand delivers up to 5 GPM
of oil flow to maintain operating termperatures during the extended
test period for various M1A1 alternators. The Marine Corps has recently
discovered a need to test alternators for the M1A1 that require up to
8.5 GPM oil flow to maintain operating temperatures over an extended
test period. As such, EPEC will design/produce modification kits that
will provide an increased oil cooling capacity of 10 to 15 GPM, to
include all associated hydraulic/electrical circuitry and valving. EPEC
will also provide technical training to theMarine Corps to assist each
of the using units in properly retrofitting the oil pump modification
kits into the twenty-two (22) AGRS test stands resident in the Marine
Corps. EPEC is the original equipment manufacturer of the Marine Corps
AGRS test stands and, as such, is considered the only responsible
source to design/develop the needed modifications and to provide the
technical training that supports a successful and timely retrofit. It
is estimated that the EPEC will complete delivery of all twenty-two
(22) retrofit kits to the Marine Corps within six months of contract
award. Training to the using units will be provided by EPEC on site
within 30 days of final delivery of the retrofit kits. Authority: 10
U.S.C. 2304(c)(1). Justification: Supplies or Services required are
available from only one or a limited number of sources under the
authority of FAR 6.302. See Note 22. (0233) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0069 19970825\K-0003.SOL)
