COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF AUGUST 26,1997 PSA#1917Social Security Administration, Office of Acquisition and Grants, 1710
Gwynn Oak Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21207-0696 58 -- SSA HEADQUARTERS TELEPHONE SYSTEM REQUIREMENT FOR INTELLIGENT
PERIPHERAL EQUIPMENT SOL none DUE 090597 POC Ed Casswell Tel:
410-965-9490 Sources Sought. The Social Security Administration (SSA)
has a requirement for technology that will expand its voice facilities
to various buildings at its Headquarter's location (distance
requirement is 100 miles from the HQ main switchroom in Woodlawn, Md).
Currently, there is a shortage of buried copper wiring to several
large facilities and a shortage of space on the Main Data Frame in the
switchroom which feeds the entire campus. The telephone switch is a
Northern Telecom SL-100 with a 30,000 line capacity. SSA is seeking the
installation of Intelligent Peripheral Equipment (IPE) Modules as an
alternative solution to installing additional cabling to the existing
buildings, as well as expanding the Main Data Frame. SSA believes IPE
is a cost effective means of extending the SL-100 for serving multiple
smaller remote sites while still retaining all the features and
services for analog lines that the telephone switch provides to the
host location. SSA wishes to keep its personnel on the same equipment,
using the same telephone numbers through the year 2004. The modules
should be mobile and easily transported to various leased spaces
surrounding the HQ's complex, with limited installation restrictions
and mobility requirements. Each module should accommodate minimum 250
lines each. This equipment will be needed for year end 1997. Vendors
shall provide information about their company and include the number
and qualifications of employees, detailing previous relevant experience
and projects. Locations where similar equipment has been installed by
the vendor shall also be provided. No cost or pricing data is required
or requested. This is not a request for proposal, and the Government
does not intend to pay for the information solicited or received.
Respondents will not be notified of the results of the evaluation of
the source data received. Any interested organization must submit
appropriate data in duplicate within fifteen (15) days of this
announcement. See note #22. (0234) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0280 19970826\58-0011.SOL)
