Specialist, (404)842-6553 The Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention (CDC) has a requirement for development of an algorithm for
the management and treatment of diabetes in India. Respondents to this
requirement shall have technical expertise in development of
evidence-based and credible guidelines for the management of diabetes
in developing countries, shall have access and experience working with
the India Medical Association, medical schools and health-care
organizations in India, and the Indian Government. The respondent s
Principle Investigator shall have had prior experience with diabetes
leadership in India, the Cochrane Collaboration, and INCLEN. The scope
of work will include, but not be limited to: (1) a review of evidence
to derive low-cost treatment and foot-care algorithms from Indian and
international literature, (2) assessing current practice patterns
through a review of case records, and review of provider practices, (3)
convening about 12 leading Indian and international experts in India to
discuss current low-cost options for managing diabetes, and feasible
methods for expansion of their use in public and private sectors, (4)
devoloping low-cost algorithms based on evidence and consensus among
experts, (5) create best practice guidelines for widespread use of
these algorithms. This requirement will be issued as Request for Quote
97-195(Q) on or about 9/10/97 with a closing date of 9/20/97.
