Survivability Division is sponsoring an Aircraft Survivability
Symposium in cooperation with the Federal Aviation Administration,
American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, American Helicopter
Society, Aerospace Industries Association, Air Line Pilots Association,
National Defense Transportation Association, Joint Technical
Coordinating Group on Aircraft Survivability, Joint Strike Fighter
Program, Naval Air Systems Command, and Army Aviation Research,
Development and Engineering Center. The symposium will be held on
October 21-23, 1997 at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey,
California. The symposium will examine current and emerging
technologies and system applications that will enable both military and
commercial aircraft to better withstand damage induced by hostile
action and peacetime accidents. Symposium sessions will include
Perspectives on Operational Requirements and VVulnerability Reduction,
Transport Aircraft: More safe and less Vulnerble, Reducing
Susceptibility and Vulnerability: Doing the Trades, Advanced
Technology: Key to Vulnerability Reduction, and Affordable/Survivable
