A -- DEVELOPMENT AND VALIDATION OF A HOME SEMEN COLLECTION CONTAINER SOL HCA122 DUE 090997 POC Diane L. Pierce, Contract Specialist, (919) 541-0184/Barbara Stearrett, Contracting Officer The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency intends to negotiate sole source with Fertility Solutions, Inc., 13000 Shaker Blvd., Cleveland, OH 44120 for the development and validation of a home semen collection container that could be used as a component of site-based epidemiology studies to evaluate reproductive health in humans exposed to environmental pollution or water disinfection byproducts of potential concern. The overall objectives of this procurement are (1) produce a prototype container for field testing, (2) validate, under a strict, quality controlled Andrology laboratory setting, that the container preserves semen quality during shipment from the home to the laboratory, (3) laboratory analyses specified for conduct on the samples shall include: Semen volume, sperm concentration, and sperm morphology. EPA believes Fertility Solutions, Inc. is the only vendor capable of satisfying the requirements stated above. The period of performance is expected to be from date of award through September 30, 1998. No solicitation is available. All interested parties must respond within 15 days of the date of this announcement. Interested vendors shall (1) include information on the proposed services which clearly supports the requirements outlined above and; (2) provide pricing information that is sufficient to make a determination that competition is feasible.
