COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF AUGUST 27,1997 PSA#1918U. S. ARMY ENGINEER DISTRICT, MOBILE, ATTN: CESAM-CT (PLANS ROOM NO.

STREET MOBILE AL 36602 Y -- MARKET SURVEY FOR DEZURIK BRAND WATER DISTRIBUTION VALVES SOL
JACKI1-7131-0001 POC Contact Jacalyn Jenkins (334) 441-5598,
Contracting Officer, Edward M. Slana (Site Code W31XNJ) The U.S. Army
Corps of Engineers, Mobile, District, is conducting a market survey to
identify sources and to increase competition acquisition opportunities
for large diameter (36"-84" in diameter) steel bodied butterfly control
and isolation valves for raw water pipelines as large as 84" inches in
diameter. Specialized typed water valves as currently manufactured by
DEZURIK COMPANY, INC. This request is only a market survey, not a
request to be placed on a solicitation mailing list. It is for
INFORMATION ONLY and is not a Request for proposal (RFP) or
announcement of a solicitation. The purpose of this sources sought
request is to obtain information on potential manufacturers that would
guarantee that their large diameter (36" up to 84") butterfly valves
are constructed with seats that will provide leak free service and have
the ability to be adjusted, repaired, or replaced in a simple manner
without removal of the valve from the pipe line. The requirement is for
such valves to be constructed with seats such that are composed of a
synthetic compound, without retaining bolt penetrations. Acceptable
type valve seats must be mechanically retained in the valve body by
means of a one-piece ring retainer and they must be fully field
adjustable and repairable without special tools. Fully field repairable
and adjustable requires adjustment in multiple directions. Repair must
be able to be accomplished without special tools or special
environmental conditions, i.e. (such as dry, warm, well ventilated or
cleanliness requirements which cannot be achieved with valves remaining
in- place in wet, cold, and dirty pipe lines.) These valves must
provide for leak free service over an extended period and allow for
adjustment, repair and replacement of the required synthetic seats
without removal of the valve from the buried pipeline. Responses are
required 14 days after publication of this notice. Responses should be
addressed to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, P.O. Box 2288 Mobile, AL
36628, ATTN: CESAM-CT-C directed to Ms. Jacalyn Jenkins, 334-441-5598.
Firms interested in being considered shall provide manufacturer's
name, product data clearly illustrating valve seat installation
adjustments and repair. The written statement of compatibility shall
include necessary backup information and support documentation. A list
