COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF AUGUST 28,1997 PSA#1919National Cancer Institute, Research Contracts Branch, PSCS, 6120
Executive Blvd, Eps/room 638, Bethesda, MD 20892-7227 66 -- AMENDED ELECTRONIC PARAMAGNETIC RESONANCE (EPR)
MAGNETIC/GRADIENT COIL SYSTEM SOL RFQ-70150-NV DUE 090897 POC Debbie
Moore, Purchasing Agent, 301-402-4509, Trish Haun, Contracting Officer,
301-402-4509 This is an amendment to the combined synopsis/solicitation
for an electronic paramagnetic resonance (EPR) magnetic/gradient coil
system that was published in the CBD on August 12, 1997. The system is
being procured as a commercial item, and a separate written
solicitation will not be issued. The August 12 synopsis/solicitation is
amended to include the following additional equipment: Since the
required EPR system will provide RF pulsed EPR imaging of objects the
size of a human head, a magnet/gradient system must be added to house
a transmit/receive arm and a resonator coil capable of accommodating an
object approximately 20 cm in diameter. The EPR magnet and gradient
system that is the subject of this amendment must be compatible with
the existing RF electronics in terms of homogeneity and linearity of
gradient fields. In addition, long term stability of the magnetic
fields is a necessity. The specific requirements of the EPR magnet and
gradient system are as follows: Components: Main Magnet power supply
and Gradient power supplies. (1) General: (a) Active Volume: Active
volume for magnet and gradient coils; Cylinder of 20 cm diameter and 20
cm length. (2) Main Magnet: (a) Type: Electromagnet, water cooled. (b)
Magnetic Field Strength: 150 G max. (c) Active Volume: Cylinder of 20
Cm diameter and 20 cm length. (d) Uniformity: less that 20 ppm over
the active volume, shim capabilities necessary and system integration.
(e) Gradients: static, three axes. (f) Shielding: self shielding,
gradient settling time less than ms. (g) Strength: 3 G/cm, linearity
better than +/- 5% over active volume, water cooled, to be integrated
with main magnet. The original synopsis/solicitation required that all
capability statements be received within 20 days after the August 12
publication date. That date is being extended by 6 days, to Sept. 8,
1997 (5:00 PM EST.) as a result of this amendment. See the August 12
notice for other information pertaining to the procurement. All other
requirements of the August 12 combined synopsis/solicitation remain in
effect. (0238) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0294 19970828\66-0008.SOL)
