Duperon, (503) 808-2370 Under the authority of FAR 13.106-2, the USDA,
Forest Service intends to negotiate and award a sole source purchase
order with Softree, Inc., 650 Clyde Ave., #8, West Vancouver, BC,
Canada, V7T 1E2, for a Regional site license and approximately 34
copies of RoadEng software for Windows. Software documentation,
training, user support services, and option to purchase additional
copies also required. Delivery FOB destination to various National
Forests in Oregon and Washington. The Forest Service has a continuing
need for a software program to produce low-volume road designs that
provides consistency among Forests and ability to transfer data files.
The software must: be available commercially, for Forest Service use,
as well as for acquisition by non-Government entities, such as timber
purchasers and contractors; be easy to use by field personnel and not
require lengthy training to become proficient in its use; provide low
volume road designs in both US and metric units of measure; operate on
IBM compatible personal computers in Windows environment (3.1 or
higher); provide capability for file transfer between FS units and
others; accept survey data from data recorders and electronic surveying
devices; provide nongeometric design with the following capabilities:
accept survey data in various formats, such as bearing or azimuth and
horizontal or slope distance; calculate bearings, distance, percent
slope for horizontal and vertical alignment; right of way, clearing,
and seeding areas; calculate earthwork volumes, culvert lengths and
skew, surfacing quantities, and mass diagrams; print mass diagram, plan
and profile sheets, horizontal and vertical alignment, cross sections,
and slope stake notes. CD installation media preferred. Interested
parties may identify their interest and describe capability by
responding to this notice within 10 calendar days from the date of this
publication. When responding to this announcement, refer to RFQ
R6-97-888. Responses must be submitted to the address cited at the
beginning of this notice and contain pricing information and technical
description of the item in sufficient detail to allow evaluation of
