The Naval Air Systems Command is interested in pursuing Foreign Comparative Testing for an airborne dipping sonar with the British Merlin Program. The Merlin sonar is similar to the U.S. Navy ALFS program, and the only known supplier of a compatible system. The Navy intends to pursue an agreement with Lockheed Martin ASIC to borrow a Merlin system to conduct the testing.
