The Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC), Los Angeles, California has a requirement for Dental Assistant Services for its inmate population. Interested parties must have a Certificate of Completion from a dental assistant program and be licensed to practice this specialty in the State of California. All services shall be performed in accordance with standards and methods generally accepted within the field of Dentistry. Services shall include but are not limited to: Chairside assisting the staff Dentist, cleaning and sterilizing instruments, preparing orders for supplies, knowledge of proper use of dental X-ray unit, knowledge of proper infectious waste handling, including OSHA guidelines, proper appointment scheduling, organization of dental records performance of oral hygiene instructions/education for patients, and possess a valid and current CPR certificate. This contract will be awarded as base year plus four option years. Services will not exceed 30 hours per week, Monday thru Friday, 7:00 a.m. to1:00 p.m. The anticipated period of this contract performance will be: Base Year: Date of Award thru 12 months, Option Period #1 -- 13 months from Date of Award through 24 months through date of award, Option Period #2 -- 25 month from Date of Award through 36 months through date of award, Option Period #3-37 months from Date of Award through 48 months through date of award, Option Period #4 -- 49 months from Date of Award through 60 months from date of award. The Service Contract Act applies. Current wage rates issued from the Department of Labor will be applicable to contract award.
