Musgrove, Contracting Officer (301) 295-6491 The National Naval Medical Center has a requirement for the Microbiology Branch, Laboratory Medicine Department. NNMC intends to award a sole sourced standing order to Alexon, Inc. for assay test kits. Alexon, Inc. manufactures the only assays that will test for the parasites Giardia lamblia and Cryptosporidium using EIA enzymatic immunoassay methods. The following items will be procured: CLIN 0001: Thirty-six (36) kits Cat# 580-96 Prospect Giardia Microplate Assay, stool reagent kit, three (3) kits every month; CLIN 0002: Four (4) kits Cat# 540-96 Cryptosporidium kit, one (1) kit every three (3) months. Award will be made in the form of a purchase order for a base year period of one (1) year effective 1 October 1997 through 30 September 1998 with one (1) year option. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed purchase order based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competititve procurement. This acquisition is beiing conducted under the guidelines as set forth in the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). Award will be contingent upon availability of FY98 funding. (0239)
