Cascades Support Office is soliciting quotations from qualified
anthropological contractors and contract organizations to conduct a
study of traditional use among Klamath and Modoc Indians in a region
defined as the Klamath Basin, specifically lands inside and adjacent to
Crater Lake National Park and Lava Beds National Monument. Conduct of
the study will require the provision of research services and the
production of certain deliverables which are summarized as follows: a)
the collection of ethnographic information about natural and cultural
resources in Crater Lake National Park and Lava Beds National Monument
through a systematic literature review, including an exhaustive search
for published and non-published sources; b) the identification and
interviewing of knowledgeable individuals, who are primarily of Klamath
and/or Modoc descent, resident in the states of Oregon, California, and
Oklahoma; and c) the preparation and submittal of a professional
qualityreport that provides a meaningful context for analysis of
traditional use in these two park areas. Further details on required
professional research services and mandatory deliverables are available
upon request. The following criteria shall be used in the evaluation of
the prospective contractors and research teams: 1) Experience and
expertise in the conduct of anthropological and ethnological research
among North American Indians; 2) Specialized experience and technical
expertise within the last five years on anthropological and
ethnological projects among the Klamath Modoc or adjacent tribes in the
Plateau, Northern Great Basin, California, or Northwest Coast culture
areas of North America; 3) Demonstrated success in the management and
completion of anthropological and ethnological research projects; 4)
Professional qualifications of the contractor and staff proposed for
the performance of desired services, including educational
accomplishment and participation in professional associations; 5)
Demonstration of success in work with members of contemporary American
Indian communities; 6) Proximity to the geographic regions in which
the study will take place and demonstrated ability to engage in
required travel to engage in all necessary research activities.
GOVERNMENT ESTIMATED BID RANGE: $30,000 to $35,000 PER SOLICITATION,
