16 -- MULTIFUNCTIONAL INFORMATION DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM FIGHTER DATA LINK TERMINALS POC Kelly Hough, 02-21F, 619/553-8853 or houghk@nosc.mil The Space and Naval Warfare Systems COmmand intends to negotiate with GEC-Marconi/Rockwell-Collins Tactical Data Links, L.L.C. (a joint venture), 350 Collins Road N.E., Cedar Rapids, IA 52498 for the purchase of six additional Multifunctional Information Distribution Systems(MIDS)Fighter Data Link (FDL) Terminals for the F-15E aircraft. The MIDS FDL is an advanced data link system that provides information distribution, precise position location, and identification capabilities for applications. The MIDS FDL provides these capabilities through the use of a time division multiple access architecture, spread spectrum waveform, and embedded cryptographic features. The MIDS FDL will be compliant with TADIL-J message standard. These additional terminals will allow the U.S. Airforce to perform real time integration testing and incorporation of the MIDS FDL into the F-15E platform. GEC-Marconi/Rockwell is the only known producer of the MIDS FDL terminal who currently posses the knowledge and expertise to conduct the effort described above within the required 12 month time frame.
