Amendment 7 -- This synopsis is an additional topic to the Sensors and
Electron Devices Directorate (SEDD). This amendment will be available
on the ARL home Page (http://w3.arl.mil/baa). TOPIC 2.44 LUMINESCENT
MATERIALS AND DEVICES FOR DISPLAYS -- The Army requires investigations
into luminescent materials, devices and components, and relevant basic
physics studies that couple luminescence, electrical, optical and
mechanical properties of these materials and devices. This research and
studies are needed to ensure that the displays available for the
current and new systems will provide improved performance that is
required to carry out complex military missions. The ARL Sensors and
Electron Devices Directorate is interested in receiving novel white
papers/proposals that address the technical barriers associated with
improving the current state of the art in luminescent materials,
devices, and components used as basis for the display technology in
Army systems. Technical areas of interest include, but are not limited
to, the following: (a) Theoretical and experimental studies of
luminescence including electroluminescence, Cathodoluminescence, and
photoluminescence. (b) Studies of mirco-mechanics that impact display
devices. (c) Investigation of light modulation materials and devices.
(TPOC: D. Morton, (301) 721-3417) All responsible sources may submit a
bid or proposal which will be considered by the Agency. No telephone
requests will be honored. (0241) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0004 19970903\A-0004.SOL)
