This is a combined sole source synopsis/solicitation. The National
Inst. of Health, National Cancer Institutes, Division of Epidemiology
and Genetics Environmental Epidemiology Branch intend to contract on a
sole source basis with the American Type culture Collection, 12301
Parklawn Drive, Rockville, Md. 20952. The purpose of the procurement is
to extract DNA from 637 buffy coat samples for the testing of genetic
polymorphisms. The study includes 736 samples (200 cases, 200 hospital
controls with benign prostatic hyperplasia, and 336 population
controls). It is essential that all buffy coat samples be extracted at
the same laboratory and prepared exactly the same way to reduce
laboratory variation. The Div. of Cancer Epidemiology & Genetics
Environmental Epidemiology Branch is now prepared to extract DNA from
all study samples to evaluate the role of androgen receptors, 5-alpha
reductase, and vitamin D receptors in prostate cancer etiology. This
contract is a continuation of previous contract whichhas been modified
to take into account changes in the study design. This is not a
request for competitive proposals; no solicitation will be issued.
However, vendors who believe they can meet the Governments requirements
may submit their capability statements. Any submission must be in
writing and must contain sufficient detail so that a determinatino can
be made regarding meeting the Government's requirements. Any
submission must be received in the contracting office by the COB
