The Indian Health Service (IHS) intends to award a SOLE-SOURCE Simplified Acquisition order as a Buy Indian Set-Aside, 25 U.S.C. 47, to National Association for Native American Children of Alcoholics (NANACOA), Seattle, Washington, to provide consultant services to coordinate a conference with special emphasis on prevention and intervention support activities which aligns its ~ function to those of the IHS Alcohol and Substance Abuse Program goals and missions. This year's conference will place special recognition to the Elderly. The voice that is vital to the education, role modeling and the survival of Native people is that of the Elders. A group composed of grandmothers from across the country will be invited and included in special programs with emphasis on importance of understanding family structures, compassion, hope and continuity. NANACOA will also provide the revision of the book entitled BRIEFING BOOK which provides an overview of the problems and promising efforts in the development of alcohol and substance abuse prevention and treatment programs in American Indian and Alaskan Native communities, with a special focus on the past decade.
