schwierk@pica.army.mil. The U.S. Army, TACOM-ARDEC has a requirement
for engineering support for the Hand Emplaced Wide Area Munition
(HE-WAM) program in the area of evaluating small hand held radios and
acoustic sensors in the marketplace which may work with the (HE-WAM)
program. Evaluate the current state-of-the-art in small commercially
available hand-held radios to complete the communications link between
the WAM control station and the munition, and analysis of technologies
to improve the target ranging capability of the WAM ground platform.
Evaluate radios in the marketplace that are small in size,lightweight
& can provide secure communications within the SINCGARS bandwidth; and
acoustic and seismic sensors which will operate within the WAM's space
constraints & mission profile. Recommend possible trade-offs of some
requirements in order to best meet the program's requirements The
contractor shall furnish all technical support and services necessary
to generate a report that will support this objective. The
recommendations from the contractor will permit the PM to make the
knowledgeable decisions based on product capabilities, availability and
overall mission requirements. The government intends to award a sole
source contract to Campagnuolo Associates, of Potomac, MD. See Note 22.
