NASA/LeRC plans to issue a Request for Proposal (RFP) for technical research and development support in the functional areas of aeronautics, scientific research and technology, space power and propulsion systems, space experiments and space communications. The work includes a diverse range of performance based tasks for analytical research; operation and maintenance of developmental facilities; detailed analysis of overall systems to meet the requirements of future space applications; and the development of space flight systems managed by LeRC. The scope includes but is not limited to: Mathematical and theoretical analytical research development for application in engineeering and science disciplines; preparation of test plans to translate experiment requirements into designs and hardware; the design, development, installation, and maintenance of experimental systems; aeronautics facilities operations; advanced materials studies and testing; engineering analysis, hardware and software design and development and configuration control for aeronautical and space systems, propulsion and power systems and subsystems; detailed analysis of overall systems to meet the requirements of future space applications; preparation of safety documentation and participation in flight safety reviews; the development of space flight systems managed by LeRC; conducting or preparing for workshops, symposiums and conferences; preparation of technical presentations materials for publication. The work is presently being performed by NYMA Inc. The period of performance for 27 months. The Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) code for this procurement is 8731. See Numbered Note 26. This procurement is a national 8(a) competition. All responsible sources may, with SBA approved business plan in the above SIC Code, submit a proposal which shall be considered by the agency. An ombudsman has been appointed -- See Note "B". The Request for Proposal (RFP) will be issued on or about September 30, 1997.
