for this software are described as follows. This software brings the
convenience of Windows to the use of Zip files without requiring PKZIP
and PKUNZIP. WinZip features built-in support for Internet file
formats, including TAR, gzip, Unix compress, UUencode, BinHex, and
MIME. ARJ, LZH, and ARC files are supported via external programs.
WinZip interfaces to most virus scanners. Basic features of WinZip
includes an intuitive point-and-click drag- and-drop interface for
viewing, running, extracting, adding, deleting, and testing files in
archives, 16-bit Windows 3.x and Windows for Workgroups and 32-bit
Windows 95 and Windows NT versions included. An optional feature, the
WinZip Wizard, uses the standard and familiar "wizard" interface to
simplify the process of unzipping and installing software distributed
in Zip files. WinZip includes Windows 95: features an inclusive long
filename support and tight integration with the Windows 95 shell. Must
be able to drag and drop to or from the Explorer, or ZIP and UNZIP
without leaving the Explorer. Drop files on a printer to print. WinZip
includes Internet Support so you can use WinZip to access almost all
the files you download from the Internet. The Install/Try/Uninstall
feature makes it easy to install and uninstall software distributed in
Zip files. WinZip will run the installation program in an archive and
an optional offer to restore your system to its original state. The
uninstall step can selectively remove files, icons, or program groups
created by an install program, and can restore any altered INI files.
Provides complete control over the uninstall process, and no changes
are made without approval. The "Favorite Zip Folders" feature organizes
downloads and all other Zip files into one convenient list that is
sorted by date, making it easier to locate all Zip files, regardless of
where they came from or where they are stored. WinZip supports most
virus scanners, including McAfee's Virus Scan 95 and Norton Antivirus
95, so downloads can be tested for viruses. Full context sensitive help
is available. WinZip 6.2 lets the user open and extract UUencoded,
XXencoded, BinHex, and MIME files. These files can be open via the
File/Open dialog or via drag and drop. The Actions->UUencode menu entry
makes it easy to encode files. The File->Favorite Zip Folders lists all
Zip files in your folders by date for easy access. WinZip 6.2 includes
WinZip Self-Extractor Personal Edition. The Government will award an
order resulting from this request for quotation to the responsible
offeror whose offer represents the lowest cost to the Government.
