COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF SEPTEMBER 15,1997 PSA#193010 -- TRI-SERVICE FUZE INDUSTRY DAY The Government has identified an
immediate need to develop new sources for Air Force, Army and Navy fuze
programs as a result of business decisions by a leading Government fuze
contractor, Motorola Inc, SSTG/TSO, of Scottsdale, AZ. As a result, a
Tri-Service government fuze meeting was held at Eglin AFB, FL on 9-10
Sep 97. This meeting clearly brought forth the fact that each service
had critical fuzing needs that will require the support of new sources
from industry. To understand these needs and the associated immediate
business opportunities, interested fuze and system contractors are
invited to attend a Tri-Service Fuze Industry Day on 8 Oct 97. The
meeting will be held at the Air Rescue Auditorium, Building 439 at
Eglin AFB, FL. Registration will begin at 0730 hours with discussions
to begin at 0800 hours. The Industry Day will include briefings and
discussions with key Air Force, Army and Navy personnel in the fuze
technology, acquisition, and sustainment areas. Higher headquarters and
operational representatives will also be in attendance. The primary
purpose of this Industry Day is to provide present and potential fuze
contractors and weapon system contractors a comprehensive overview of
current requirements, plans, schedules, strategies, and available
technical data associated with fuze programs that are critical to the
US National Defense, as well as foreign military sales to US allies.
The interchange on Industry Day is anticipated to include specific
program status and current acquisition planning for approximately 10
programs from all three services with near-term contracting
opportunities in which industry will be invited to participate.
Prospective attendees must provide us with a list of personnel who plan
to attend Industry Day, along with visit requests, no later than 1 Oct
97. All visit requests must include visitors' security clearance
levels signed by your appropriate security manager. Note: All
discussions and/or questions will be limited to the Secret level during
Industry Day. All visit requests should be sent to Mr Dave Cornwell,
ASC/WMG, Fax number (850) 882-5243. A copy of the minutes, questions,
and responses will be posted on the Eglin AFB Contracting Business
Opportunities Home Page (http://www.eglin.af.mil/afdtc/dr/
industry/homepg.htm) on the World Wide Web for those contractors unable
to attend Industry Day. We encourage any company who believes it has a
product or service applicable to the Government fuze industry to
attend. This is an information meeting only; no equipment
demonstrations from industry are desired. A technical library for
selected Air Force programs with immediate contracting opportunities
has been established to provide contractors access to technical data
packages and test documentation currently available. For more
information on access to the technical library, please contact Ms
Christie Wicker at (850) 678-7887. Other services' program technical
data will be added to the Eglin Library as available. Also, it is
anticipated that additional technical libraries will be established on
other service programs in the near term, and will be advertised when
specifics are available. POC is Ms. Merilee Kennedy, Contract
Specialist, (850) 882-8787 ext 3109, or Mr. John P. Sullivan,
Contracting Officer, (850) 882-8515 ext 2119. For any additional
