34TH ANNUAL ASSOCIATION OF OLD CROWS (AOC) INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM AND CONVENTION The Association of Old Crows (AOC) will present its 34th Annual AOC International Symposium and Convention, October 26-29, 1997, at the Sheraton Washington Hotel in Washington DC. The theme of this year's symposium is EW: Assuring Information Superiority for Joint Vision 2010. Brigadier General David A. Herrelko, USAF, Commander, Joint Logistics Systems Center, is the 1997 Technical Symposium Chairman. The symposium provides a forum where U.S. and allied participants can discuss critical EW issues with their counterparts in the military, government, and industry. Day 1 of the symposium will include a presentation of annual AOC awards and marks the kick-off of the convention. Speakers include: Brig Gen Leslie F. Kenne, USAF, JSF SPO Director, and Col Mike Poore, Chief Systems Engineer, JSF SPO. Topics to be discussed include Joint Strike Fighter and planning for JSF Integrated Avionics Suite. Day 2 speakers include the National Security Agency, RADM John M. Johnson, USN, Head, Aviation Plans and Requirements Branch, OPNAV N8880, and Brig Gen Paul V. Hester, USAF, Commander, 53rd Wing, Eglin Air Force Base FL. Day 2 topics to be discussed include: EW Operations in Bosnia, Joint Vision 2010, and Army, Navy, and Air Force EW Strategies, and the President's Commission on Critical Infrastructure Protection. Speakers for the international track of the symposium are: Col Thomas M. Hall, USAF, Chairman, NEWAC, IMS OPS division, NATO Headquarters; Col JBR Wennerholm, Head, Joint EW Section, Swedish Armed Forces; ADM Vincenzo Ascoli, Ministry of Defense, Italy; Mr. Bruno Berthet, Head, EW RECON & Armament, Ministry of Defense, France; Lt Gen Chen, Ministry of Defense, Taiwan, ROC; and EW/IW in Israel. They will discuss EW/IW operations in their respective countries. Featured speakers in the Technical Track include Mr. Bill Doane, Teledyne/Ryan; Mr. Dennis Vaccaro, Northrop Grumman; Profession Fred Levien, Naval Postgraduate School; Mr. Ron Olson, Zeta-Sierra Networks; Mr. Mike Hale, NSA; and Mr. Paul Lang, Northrop Grumman. Topics to be discussed are Miniature Air Launched Decoy (MALD), Technical Baseline for Information Warfare, Catching Frequency Hoppers: The Fundamentals, Firewalls, and Guards and Directional Infrared Countermeasures (DIRCM). The symposium is unclassified and will concentrate on the vital role the EW/IW community will play in the next century's war-fighting strategy. Other activities include a Job Opportunities Expo, Multinational Forum and Exhibits where current technology, systems, and capabilities for the EW/IW industry will be displayed from defense contractors and government organizations from around the world.
