The U.S. Army Engineer District, Alaska, is reissuing Application or Lease No. 97-3, for the leasing of approximately 62.5 acres consisting of a fuel transfer dock, tank farm (containing 13 tanks), tank car loading racks, fire equipment building, pump house and transfer pump building and approximately 2.5 miles of pipeline at Whittier, Alaska, on a competitive bid basis for the storage of commercial grade liquid petroleum products. Lease term will be negotiable. The facilities, which are no longer in use, were previously utilized by the Defense Fuels Office-Alaska to receive, store and transport petroleum products. Applications will be evaluated by past performance, expertise and experience of potential lessee; benefit to the United States; financial capability of potential lessee; potential lessee ability to meet Federal and State requirements to operate and maintain the facilities. Beginning September 19, 1997, potential lessees may request applications for leasing describing the terminal and facilities and giving details of the lease requirements.
