253-8889, Fax (606) 253-8882. The Federal Bureau of Prisons seeks to
award a contract for the construction of a Staff Training Center
Building at the Federal Correctional Complex in Butner, North Carolina,
in accordance with the contract documents, drawings, and
specifications. The Contractor under this requirement shall be required
to provide all labor, materials, equipment, expertise, etc., to
successfully construct a 10,000 square foot, single story building,
with HVAC, Sprinkler System, and Fire Alarm System. This building has
been designed to comply with North Carolina State Building Codes, NFPA
Codes, Uniform Federal Accessability Standars (UFAS), and other
applicable codes, as well as the Seismic Safety Requirements. The
successful bidding Contractor shall be required to attend regularly
scheduled progress meetings, and in addition, prepare all required
submittals and shop drawings for the Federal Bureau of Prisons
approval, prior to construction. The project magnitude is within the
estimated range of $1,000,000 to $5,000,000. The estimated issue date
of the Invitation For Bid is October 6, 1997, with a Bid Opening date
of November 12, 1997. A Pre-Bid Meeting/Site Visit is scheduled for
October 27,1997, at 9:00am, and all perspective bidders are encouraged
to attend this meeting, since this meeting will be the only site visit
for this project. This project is unrestricted, and not set-asside for
small business concerns. The project completion time is 330 calendar
days. Requests for solicitation packages shall be submitted in writting
to the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Mid-Atlantic Regional Contracting
Office, 3600 Spurr Road, Quarters 14, Lexington, KY 40511, Attn: Melvin
L. Gardner, Regional Contract Specialist. A non-refundable deposit in
the amount of $100.00 is required for each solicitation package
request. All deposits shall be made payable to Middleton, McMillian
Architects, and sent to the Contracting Officer listed above. This fee
is for the administrative and reproduction costs for the issuance of
the solicitation package. Respondents to the Pre-Solicitation Notice
for this project need not resubmit a request for bid documents, bid
packages will be forwarded as soon as solicitation is issued. The
solicitation package may also be viewed at the Federal Correctional
Institution, Old Highway 75, Butner, North Carolina, at no charge, by
