59 -- LOW PROFILE PINGER UNITS SOL N00253-97-Q-0335 POC R. Diane Crocker, Fax 360/396-7036 The Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) Division, Keyport intends to solicit utilizing Simplified Acquisition Procedures for 51 each Minipinger, Low Profile units and 50 spare tone-burst generator sub-assembly circuit boards. The Minipiniger is used to facilitate the post-operation location and recovery submerged autonomous and semi-autonomous underwater vehicles by generating periodic acoustic tone bursts at a frequency of 45 kHz which may be received by appropriate listening device. This unit must provide a self-contained power source and must be functional to pressures of 3000 PSIG or more. The contractor shall provide a functional first article unit, 50 production units, 50 spare assembled tone burst generator circuit boards, and one test fuxture required to monitor the acoustic performance of the units during assembly. The units are to be built in accordance with drawings to be provided with the request for quotation (RFQ). The requirement includes the manufacture of external housings and manufacture and installation of the circuit boards. A written RFQ shall be issued on or about 30 Oct 1997 with award on or about 30 Nov 1997. All responsible sources shall submit an offer. No telephone requests for the RFQ will be accepted.
