On behalf of the USIA International Broadcasting Bureau, the Agency intends to award a contract modification to the incumbent contractor, Sayed Hamid Behbehani & Sons Co., to accelerate the construction of a shortwave radio relay station on the island of Tinian in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. Acceleration of the project is necessary to allow early operation of the radio relay station for broadcasts of Radio Free Asia and Voice of America broadcasts to China in keeping with USG foreign policy objectives. The acceleration will encompass construction of facilities and antennas and installation of additional Government-furnished broadcast equipment. This modification is contingent upon availability of FY98 funds. This is not a Request for Proposal. See Numbered Note 22.
