will issue Invitation for Bids for the construction of B-2 Support
Facilities -- Package 84, Maintenance Docks, Whiteman AFB, MO. Bids
will be opened on or about 19 November 1997. This solicitation is
unrestricted and open to both large and small business participation.
Contractors interested in inspecting the site of the proposed work
should contact the Whiteman AFB Resident Engineer, U.S. Army Corps of
Engineers, Bldg. 1439, P.O. Box 7003, Whiteman AFB, Missouri 65305,
Telephone: (816) 563-2311, FAX (816) 563-4706. The work will include
the following: (Approx. quantities) BUILDING WORK includes construction
of a new Maintenance Dock Facility (54,480 SF) consisting of two
maintenance bay areas separated by a support area. Construction
materials will consist of 8-inch CMU exterior walls, open-web steel
joists, steel roof deck, CMU fire rated interior wall construction,
gypsum wallboard, elastomeric roofing, hangar doors, sheet metal
siding, slab on grade, safety harness monorail, and Hydrant/CASS
Utility Pits. The support area will include electrical, mechanical
(i.e. HVAC, wet pipe and AFFF inverted deluge and overhead deluge fire
protection systems, plumbing, toilets), lightning protection CCTV
system and communications. SITE WORK includes: 2500 kVA padmounted
transformer and electrical service line; placement of new PCC Apron
Pavement; new Concrete Convoy Roads and associated grading; domestic
water, sanitary sewer, waste drain and fire water service lines and
sanitary sewer collection piping. The estimated construction cost of
this project is between $15,000,000 and $20,000,000. Contractor's
Quality Control will be a requirement in this contract. The Contractor
will be required to commence work within 10 days after notice to
proceed and complete the work 470 calendar days after receipt of Notice
to Proceed. Provisions will be included for liquidated damages in case
of failure to complete the work in the time allowed. Performance and
payment bonds will be required. All requests for solicitation packages
should be made in writing and no later than 14 days prior to bid
opening. After such time, packages will be furnished if supply is
available. It has been determined that the number of sets be limited to
one (1) per firm. Ordering of plans and specifications shall be by

Address for Parcel Delivery Service, Telephone and Fax Phone Numbers
(with Area Code), Level of Participation (General Contractor,
Subcontractor, Supplier or Plan Room), and Large Business, Small
Business or Small Disadvantaged Business. If any of the information
changes during the advertisement period, resubmit the information.
