information is requested as part of the market research in determining
if there is a commercial item avilable in the market place that will
fulfill the Government's need. The USCG ELC is seeking qualified
sources that can provide information for a state of the art High
Frequency (HF) Transceiver with the following characteristics: An
output power of 100-125 W (PEP and AVG); this transceiver must also
have the capability to be configured for 1 kw (PEP and AVG) operation.
Frequency range required is 1.6-29.999 MHz. All units must be 19" EIA
standard rack mount. Remote operating capabilities shall be via RS-232
and/or MIL-STD-188 interfaces. Half duplex operating mode is required,
as well as USB, LSB, ISB, CW, AM, AME, FSK, and Link-11 modes of
operation. Fully automatic digital antenna couplers capable of tuning
23' and 35' whips, 50' -- 150' longwires, dipoles, and broadband
antennas over the entire frequency range are a necessity; advance
coupler control techniques (via RF) are a plus. Channel presets are
needed. Input power requirements are 115/220/440 VAC, 50-60 Hz. In
addition to the main characteristics detailed above, the desired
transceiver will have the following (internal) options available; HFDL
and FSK Modems (MIL-STD-188 communication protocol; RS-232 and
MIL-STD-188 data interface). The HF Transceiver will be used as a
replacement for shore side stations and shipboard installations.
Interested parties shall provide information that can meet or exceed
the above description. Organizations having the capabilities and
expertise required are invited to submit complete detailed information
discussing ther capabilities in duplicate within fifteen (days) of
this announcement. This is not a Request for Proposal (RFP). The
Government does not intend to pay for the information solicited.
Responses must be concise and be specifically directed to the
requirement mentioned above. Organizations that respond to the notice
must fully demonstrate their capabilities to meet the requirements and
adequate detailed data by which to evaluate capabilities should be
sent to the attention of Jo Ann deBullet, Contract Specialist (047/53).
